Overview
Developed a middleware solution to automate the conversion of non-standard clinical images (dermatology, endoscopy) into DICOM 3.0 standard for integration with PACS systems.
The Challenge
Modern clinics use standard cameras and smartphones for clinical documentation, but central PACS systems only accept DICOM format. Doctors had to use separate software for different image types, leading to fragmented data and inefficient workflows.
The Solution
Built "DVT Image-to-DICOM Converter", a module that accepts various image formats (JPG, PNG) and automatically processes them using Python (Pydicom, NumPy). It maps patient metadata to DICOM tags and ensures 100% compatibility with PACS systems like Orthanc and dcm4chee.
